Welcome to the Center for Health Interprofessional Practice and Education’s (CHIPE’s) Virtual Interprofessional Health Showcase site! We were thrilled to celebrate the amazing work of our students and residents who submitted a total of 90 health-related abstracts. From 5/1/20 - 5/4/20, we displayed 88 posters in the following categories: community engagement, quality improvement, research, literature reviews, and case studies. Project collaborators range from schools and programs across UT and all pertain to health and health care. A few highlights:

  • 40% of abstracts were submitted by interprofessional teams, meaning authors from two or more professions collaborated on each of these projects
  • 51% of the projects involved community partners
  • Authors represent 12 professions/majors, consisting of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and residents
  • 304 people voted in the new People's Choice award category, representing numerous professions from UT and the community
  • Poster winners represent 8 programs

Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists, as the competition was tremendous. New this year is the “People’s Choice Award” where showcase attendees voted for their top 3 favorite projects. People's Choice winners included student teams from the College of Education, the College of Natural Sciences, and the School of Nursing.

Acknowledgements

This is our 2nd Annual Interprofessional Health Showcase which transitioned to a virtual format as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent social distancing measures. Several shout-outs are in order. First, we appreciate our sponsors: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and H-E-B. Please visit their sites and learn about the great work they do to promote community health in Texas. Second, we appreciate the efforts of faculty and staff in the College of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, Dell Medical School, and Steve Hicks School of Social Work who helped us to transition this important event online. A list of individuals who contributed as judges and abstract reviewers is below. We appreciate our students’ adaptability moving their learning experiences online and creating digital posters for this showcase that allow audiences to learn about the impactful work they are doing in health care. During these challenging times, it is even more important that we find opportunities to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our learners. Finally, I would like to thank Lauren El-Assad, CHIPE’s program manager, for making this virtual event possible.

Take care and be well,
