HIPE Day is an in-person event, led by the Center for Health Interprofessional Practice and Education (HIPE Center), that convenes students and faculty across 9 health programs at UT Austin to work in small teams to start developing the foundational knowledge and skills essential for effective interprofessional collaborative practice. Students are placed in interprofessional teams that are facilitated by faculty and practitioners. Programs represented include athletic training, audiology, dietetics, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, social work, and speech language pathology.  

HIPE Day It is held twice per year - in the fall and spring - and is the foundational level of the IPE Microcredential Program. Students who participate in the following 3 modules will be eligible to receive the forthcoming IPE Foundations badge issued by the HIPE Center: 

  • Interprofessional Health Care Team Development (available as an interactive online or in-person experience) 

  • Fall HIPE Day; Topic: Interprofessional Communication and Teamwork (in person) 

  • Spring HIPE Day; Topic: Health Equity and IPE (in person) 

 

HIPE Day is UT Austin’s only event that convenes students and faculty across UT Austin to work together to develop the foundational knowledge and skills that are needed to be collaboration-ready health care team members.
