UT Academy of Interprofessional Student Peer Consultants
Learn. Do. Teach.

The UT Academy of Interprofesional Student Peer Consultants is a joint effort between the McCombs School of Business and the Center for Health IPE that pairs trained student consultants with student groups to work on a community-based project using an interprofessional lens. The Academy's goal is for student peer consultants to bring their respective profession’s perspectives into real-world student projects, providing value to peers and to the community. Student peers with advanced knowledge of their own field will provide consultations on community-based projects conducted by students from another major/profession. Community-based projects must have a focus on advancing person-centered care and/or population health.

How it Works
  • Students apply to be consultants
  • Teams of 4-6 students apply to be internal clients. Teams must be working with a community agency on a project that pertains to advancing person-centered care and/or population-oriented health
  • Consultants and teams are selected, paired, and notified by a faculty advisor
  • Consultants participate in onboarding / consultant training
  • Consultants work with students for 5 hours a week for 6-8 weeks during the Fall semester. Work can be done remotely when possible.
  • Consultants provide a report of their findings and may be asked to present to the at the end of the project
  • Consultants and students complete a 360 degree evaluation process
