At the 2018 Nexus Summit hosted by the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education, the Texas Interprofessional Education (IPE) Consortium received Honorable Mention for the 2018 George E. Thibault, MD Nexus Award. The award recognizes significant contributions to the Nexus through the alignment of interprofessional practice and education to improve health.
 
The mission of the Texas IPE Consortium is to create a Texas Community of Practice (CoP) specializing in interprofessional practice and education in order to share best practices, facilitate the successful implementation of team-based collaborative care in a variety of practice settings, and develop collaborative, innovative, and interprofessional pedagogies that will transform healthcare education across the state of Texas. The six founding members of the Texas IPE Consortium are University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas Tech, University Health Sciences Center, University of North Texas Health Science Center, and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Veronica Young, Director of the UT Center for Health Interprofessional Practice and Education, was present to receive the award.
