All are welcome to attend. Please contact Sarah Williams (sarwilliams@mcw.edu) with any questions.

In this discussion series, four sessions will examine external influences—micro and macro—that are shaping and driving the vitality of healthcare learners, professionals and broader society over the next decade.

During January’s session, discover how flourishing can provide a framework for improving community health in ways that go beyond direct patient care. This moderated discussion will explore strategies for community health and well-being that span from curriculum design to local produce delivery. The program features:

  • Sue Cox, MD, who played an integral role in creating Dell Medical School in partnership with the community and with a mission to improve the community’s health through new care and learning models. She has previously served as executive vice dean of academics and interim senior associate dean of the Dell Medical School.
  • Zack Timmons, MD, a former Dell Med student and current emergency medicine physician with a passion for applying business principles to improve community health. He co-founded Good Apple, an Austin-based produce delivery company with a mission to end food waste and food insecurity.
  • Moderator: Larry Speck, MArch, FAIA, a former dean of the UT Austin School of Architecture and lead architect of the Dell Medical School’s Health Learning Building.

Audience Q&A will follow the main program.
