Racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in kidney disease are prominent in the United States. Minorities and people who are low income have higher incidence of kidney failure and other poor outcomes. The purpose of this symposium is to identify interventions that might narrow kidney disease disparities. The target audience is providers, medical students, nurses, social workers, community partners, and policy makers. Specific symposium objectives include:

a. Identify community-based resources to reduce kidney disease disparities and progression
b. Recognize systemic challenges and changes necessary to reduce kidney disease disparities
c. Advocate for improved healthcare access for marginalized populations with kidney disease
d. Discuss strategies to improve equity in kidney transplantation
e. Describe future opportunities for research on kidney disease disparities
